To be honest, this book is not one of my favorites. It doesn't have Edward in it very much, and that makes me sad because I am totally Team Edward.
New Moon is the sequel to Stephenie Meyer's fabulous novel Twilight.
New Moon is always going to be compared to Twilight and people who are expecting the novel to be the same as it, will most likely disappointed... like myself. Twilight had a dreamy quality, which New Moon lacks, but don't let that put you off reading the book.
New Moon has a Romeo and Juliet feel, and I think I said that also about Twilight, but I cant remember. Anyway, the pain that Bella feels when Edward abandons her is well written and is really what the story is about. Most of the incidents that happen to Bella are a result of her not being able to bear with the loss of losing Edward. Her friendship with Jacob on the other hand grows and she sees him as her "sun".
For fantasy fans New Moon isn't all about Bella and her pain. In Twilight we meet Laurent, James, and Victoria; James dies in the first book but Laurent and Victoria make a visit it Forks. They of course are looking for revenge, since Edward killed James. The Quileute werewolves are an exciting addition to the story. Instead of the Vampires, its the Werewolves! Both amazing.
I have to admit, I hate reading second books because they are never as good as the other books, but this one was half bad. It took me a little bit to get into it, but the ending is fantastic!
